Dr. Gorensek is a Senior Fellow Engineer in the Science and Technology Directorate of the Savannah River National Laboratory with over 30 years of professional experience and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). He holds BS and MS degrees from Case Western Reserve University and a PhD from Princeton, all in chemical engineering. Current research interests include flowsheet simulation and optimization, process development, nuclear nonproliferation, and hydrogen production. Dr. Gorensek is also an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina and an Associate Editor of International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.

Before joining SRNL in 2002, he was an independent consultant providing flowsheet modeling services. Prior to 2001, Dr. Gorensek worked in the Intermediates and Catalysts R&D Group of the former BFGoodrich Co., where his experience spanned the range from bench and pilot-scale process development and catalyst testing, through steady-state and dynamic modeling and simulation of plant processes and flowsheet development, to plant and licensing technical support. He is a licensed Professional Engineer with registrations in Ohio and New Jersey.

Dr. Gorensek is a past Chair of the Nuclear Engineering Division of the AIChE and also a member of the American Chemical Society and the International Association for Hydrogen Energy.
